Note From Mrs Van Ingen-Kal

ICT Excitement in the Senior Primary 2019

The Year 5/6 cohort buzzed with excitement, anticipating the arrival of laptops to help enhance learning. The Year 6 team started the rollout in Term 1 with over 65 laptops arriving with student participation within two days. It was with such joy and delight to see the faces of our students, as they were able to work and collaborate with their new devices.

The Year 5 cohort were hot on our heels with approximately 40 laptops received in Term 2. We used a staggered approach to upskill our new staff members. A stable IT network has ensured this rollout was successful, also enabling increased use of ICT by teachers in the classroom as a highly effective tool to enhance learning opportunities for all students.

The students have an increased connection with their parents as they are able to share and show their work at a click of a button. We are able to complete online activities such as Mathletics, IXL and Protec which have helped students become more proficient in their basic fact skills and in mastering mathematics.

Dyslexic and ESOL students have experienced new found freedom, identifying their highlighted errors, enabling them to self-correct before submitting for marking. Students’ work is submitted and evaluated enabling instantaneous feedback. Coding and problem solving are highlighted, as students embark on areas that have been unfamiliar to them in the past.

It has been a privilege and honour to be part of a team that is allowing us as leaders’ and teachers’ to improve student outcomes, ensuring our students leave well prepared to be future leaders.

40 Hour Famine

KingsWay Junior Campus managed to raise a total of $1,683.10 for the 40 Hour Famine! Well done to all the children who participated in raising funds for World Vision. This is a wonderful contribution!

Mufti Day Reminder

Tomorrow will be a Mufti Day to help raise funds for Missions. Please could students bring a gold coin donation. The theme of tomorrow's Mufti Day is 'Pyjamas' (dressing to theme is not compulsory).

Primary Bake Sale

Bake Sale at the Junior Campus — KingsWay School

The bake sale tomorrow, Friday 21 June, will be run by the Youngman House to raise funds for Missions. All children in Youngman House are asked to bring an item of baking to sell at lunchtime. There only needs to be one baked item per family, so if you have three or more children in Youngman then you do not need to bake three sets of muffins!

Students need to only bring loose change as items will cost 50c - $2.00, maximum.

Please deliver all baked items to the staffroom first thing in the morning and cut any cakes, ready for selling at 50c - $2.00 per slice.

Thanking you so much for your support and encouragement for Missions.

Blessings

Angela Hillman
Missions Leader, Junior Campus
