KingsWay School —

Matariki Breakfast

Identity and Belonging | Be secure in who I am in Christ and my place in the biblical meta-narrative.

KingsWay School paused to acknowledge Matariki, the Māori New Year on a beautiful and crisp June morning. This occasion was an opportunity to gather and remember the past —those who have gone before us and the legacy they have left us with. A time to reflect on where we are as a community and where we want to be in the future. It was also a moment to acknowledge God’s beautiful creation and give thanks to our Lord and Saviour once again.

During this gathering we listened to kōrero about Matariki, spent time in prayer and we were treated to wāiata from our Junior Choir. Many also wrote gratitude messages on Matariki stars prepared by our Year 5 students. Following the formalities, attendees shared a harvest-themed breakfast of piping hot soup, bread, fruit and yoghurt.

Thank you to everyone who contributed time, talent or treasure to another successful Matariki Breakfast. Seeing so many of our community come together to support this event was very encouraging. Special thanks to our Kaiārahi, members of Te Komiti, the school Kaiāwhina, and members of Ko Tātou for bringing the event together.

E kōrerotia ana e ngā rangi te kōroria ō te Atua; e whakapuakina ana e ngā rangi te mahi a ona ringa.
The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands.
Psalm 19:1
