A Note from Jenny Harvey
Dear Parents
Our return to school this week, accompanied by glorious autumn sunshine and mild weather, made for perfect conditions in which to reconnect with your children!
It was really lovely to walk through the Studios that are, once again, abuzz with the sounds of children! It was almost surreal as if we had pushed ‘pause’ for a little while and then ‘play’ again, as the children settled into their routines so quickly. It did not feel like 7 weeks had passed since we were all last together.
So many of the teachers commented to me on how well the students had done in their Home Learning and how happy they seemed to be back at school and seeing their classmates.
We were delighted to welcome our Term 2 ‘New Entrants’ to school this week. These little 5-year-olds all started school at home during the lockdown, so it was lovely for them to meet their teacher face to face, put on their school uniforms for the first time and participate in real school experiences! We welcome their families and whanau into our school and trust that you will soon feel part of our KingsWay Community.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the parents for supporting us as we transitioned back on to the Junior Campus, by either using the KWS App or by staying off-site and encouraging your children to walk in and out of school on their own. The children are coping beautifully and I am certain that a couple of them are actually growing an inch or two taller in the process!
We intend to maintain our present protocols while operating the school at Alert Level 2. Mr Graeme Budler (Executive Principal) will communicate with the Parent Body any changes or updates in this regard.

What happens in a Chess Power Coaching Programme?
Each session starts with a formal lesson; all players will learn a new strategy, idea or skill each week. Then they put those skills into practice with activities and games. All games are monitored and supervised by the coach who provides individual feedback along the way.
Throughout the programme, we reward kids that do well and encourage and support kids that are struggling. At the completion of the programme, we recognise each child with a certificate based on their performance.
