Our School Values

This term’s KingsWay Connect Magazine focuses on our school values.
Our School Values  by KingsWay School

KingsWay School's values are unique as we are an integrated school with a unique Christian special character. These values are not exhaustive, and we value other areas of life and living and do not include universally accepted values such as honesty and integrity. However, I like that we are clear as a community about what is proverbially on top for us and provide our unique reason for existing. We established these values several years ago following extensive consultation with the community as part of the writing of the KingsWay School curriculum. They don’t supersede our integration agreement, but provide direction for outworking our special character.

I am growing increasingly concerned that we are living in a supposedly tolerant society that is increasingly becoming intolerant of anyone who holds a different view or different values. It is debatable who we can attribute this quote of freedom of expression, but I love it: “I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.” At KingsWay, we don’t shut down opinions or promote discord. Still, we also don’t provide overwhelming wholehearted endorsement to all perspectives incongruent with our values and Christian integration agreement. We are clear about why we exist, and everyone who enrols their child knows what we stand for and value. Parents make this choice based on the assumption that we will partner with them in supporting these values. I believe it would be misleading and not in keeping with our integration agreement to not hold to evangelical biblical values.

Thank you to everyone who continues to support the school’s values and transformatively live these in a way that makes us authentic to the scriptures, while also making the gospel of Jesus attractive.

Regards,

Ngā mihi nui and God bless,
