Learning Support provision at KingsWay School is based on six key principles:

  1. Students have equitable access and participation in learning.
  2. Learners are known, and capability is developed to attain independence in achieving appropriately high expectations.

  3. Plans and support delivered is targeted, responsive and needs based.

  4. Plans and support are collaboratively co-constructed with key stakeholders.

  5. Stewardship of resources prioritises early intervention, maximum gains and sustained impact.

  6. Equity and excellence in learning support is continuously enhanced through building staff capability and embedded evaluation processes.

These pillars, as we call them, guide all our decision-making about how we best cater to learner needs. We adopt a longitudinal view of the student lifecycle and strategically place support where need is most acute, with the aim of growing independence over time.

Janet Uitzinger, our Head of Learning Support, is leaving KingsWay at the end of the term after 18 years of faithful service. Her knowledge, expertise and insight will be sorely missed, and we are exceedingly grateful for her work in this area. We are pleased to announce that Valerie Severin will be our new Director of Learning Support, and we look forward to seeing how she and her team will build on the well-established platform established by Janet over the years.
