Year 13 Ignite

Sadly, due to Covid, we were unable to start the year with our annual Year 13 Camp up north. Nonetheless, staff and students turned lemons into deluxe lemonade and had a massive day of fun and activities. It was a privilege to work with our new student leaders and kick off the year in a positive way.

Students were split into small groups and completed a variety of physical challenges, before heading into Orewa for an Amazing Race. Some students travelled more than 10kms over the course of the day in the hot, humid conditions – but were rewarded with a dip in the ocean to cool off. On returning to school, we had an awesome time of worship followed by a unique ‘Sing Down’.

Every year, the students impress us with their energy, enthusiasm and teamwork. This was evident this year even more so as we adapted to Covid parameters. The 2022 theme for our Year 13 cohort is based from Matthew 5:13-16.

“You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot. You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven."

We have challenged students to be a light to their community. We are definitely excited for what God has in store for them all this year.
