Top House - Middle School

The Middle School students had a wonderful day of team-building with our Top House Event. They were spilt into smaller groups of whanau, year level and gender and had twelve activities that they had to complete as a team. There were water games, strength activities and trust exercises. When the students heard the song ‘happy’ they had to rotate to their next activity, and I am sure they were singing it in their sleep that night!

The Whānau Leaders did a great job by creating a fun and energic culture on the day, as well as the wonderful chants and a lunchtime dance party. They also introduced the ‘Unified’ trophy, awarded to the class with the most unified costume whilst also representing their whanau. Mr Budler, Mrs Lambert and Mrs Gatman came down to judge as each class explained their costumes. We were so encouraged by the effort and thought that went into the participation in this competition. 8JCH was awarded the trophy, with Mrs Charles being Cruella De Vil and her students being the 101 Dalmatians.

The final score was a very close call, but Darby had their long-awaited victory! As teachers, we were so proud of the students and how they got so involved in every aspect. It was definitely a day to remember.
