Employment Opportunity - Head of Counselling

KingsWay School has an exciting opportunity for a qualified and experienced counsellor to lead our counselling team commencing at the start of Term 2, 2022. The current vacancy is for a permanent, part-time position; however, tenure details may be negotiable depending on the applicant’s suitability. The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Proven ability to counsel children and adolescents from a Christian perspective
  • Proven ability to lead others and contribute expertise to the wider community on issues related to student wellbeing
  • Proven ability to engage effectively with parents, students, staff and external agencies
  • Expertise in brief therapeutic approaches (short-term intervention) and crisis management
  • Expertise in presenting/facilitating wellbeing workshops
  • The highest ethical standards and appreciation of how ethics manifest in a school counselling context
  • NZAC or NZCCA membership and associated qualifications.

KingsWay School is a high achieving, state-integrated Christian School catering for Year 1-13 students with a current roll of 1650 students. Our mission; “To be a Christian community of learning that nurtures young people towards their full potential as servant leaders in the Kingdom of God”. As a result, our Christian special character is an integral part of our pastoral care service, and the successful candidate needs to support this.

The successful candidate will be a contributing member of the school wellbeing/pastoral team and actively involved in Kahui Ako Wellbeing initiatives.

This is a permanent, part-time (currently 4 days per week, 40 weeks per annum).
