Tree Planting Day Success!

Our community-led tree planting day, where our school community planted 1920 trees, took place on Saturday, 3rd July.

We would like to extend a huge thank you to all who came along and helped plant trees. The saying, 'many hands make light work' was exemplified as we managed to plant all the trees two hours before schedule!

A huge shout out to Sean Hilditch from Growing Gardens for his expertise and time. Sean's knowledge of native trees and birdlife is outstanding. He helped us apply for the Matariki Tu Rākau funding; his company prepared the land for planting, and he managed to borrow all the spades for us to use on planting day. Not only that, before leaving on Saturday, Sean walked through the planting area making sure all the trees were placed correctly in the ground, giving them optimum growth in the future.

Our special thanks to the following key people who also helped make this day the success that it was: Peter Wilding, Chris Westerdaal, Tanya Robertson and Maxwell Jones.
