Sport at KingsWay - Term 3
It’s back! Sport is back… oops and now I am changing this article because it’s gone again! I know I am not the only one who has missed sport during the times we have been in lockdown. I remember commenting to others that I didn’t care what the level of competition was, I was just keen to kick around a ball or shoot hoops with others. It’s so true that you don’t realise how much you care about something until it’s gone.
I would like to say a huge thank you to the Sports Department for the way they re-activated sport in Term 2 after lockdown. Lynda Hay and Elana Theron, along with an enthusiastic Sports Council, quickly kick-started sport with three lunchtime competitions over the last five weeks of term; football, 3v3 basketball and netball. Each competition was a huge success, with students and staff on the Senior Campus keen to join a team and get playing. These also provided some much-needed conditioning for students before the delayed start of the winter sports season.
After much speculation, on July 8th, College Sport competitions started up again. The season that almost didn’t happen arrived. Our young people grabbed the opportunity and once again revelled in the joy of sport.
We trust that this latest lockdown will be over soon and that the sporting competitions will be able to resume. Until then kia kaha everyone and keep that fitness up!
Below are some of the photographs taken of our various sporting activities during Term 2 and the start of Term 3.
