Missions in 2020

The Extension Ministries team needed to take a different approach this year, after the cancellation of all overseas trips due to COVID-19.

One of our main aims for the next couple of years was to develop domestic/local missions. This is our priority at this stage: to provide opportunities for our students to serve in our local community for a short period of time (micro missions), but also to do overnight ministry in New Zealand locations (domestic missions). An example of a micro mission could be a Junior Campus class going to a rest home to deliver cards and spending time with them. Contact has been made with various organisations, and we are looking to implement micro missions in the near future.

A domestic mission already in the pipeline is our annual trip to the Samoan AOG in Otara. This will hopefully take place in early November where we will take a group from Year 9–11. Additionally, we are planning a trip to Whangarei in 2021, where we will partner with Excellere College and do ministry in their local area.

The Extension Ministries team will continue to plan for 2021, and we look forward to engaging students in missions next year and beyond.
