Chris McIntosh (Head Boy 2012) gets drafted by the Bulls!
We asked for a brief summary of Chris' journey to reach this momentous point in his basketball career:
Chris, at ten years old, joined KingsWay in Year 5 at the start of 2004. He loved every opportunity to compete for KingsWay sport but eventually concentrated on basketball as his main game after joining the KingsWay School Year 6 Basketball Team. From there he joined the U13 through to the U19 Hibiscus Coast Basketball Team. Throughout his senior years at school, Chris coached the KingsWay junior players.
Chris was elected Head Prefect, and was part of the U19 KingsWay Basketball Team that won the Secondary School Competition at the North Shore Basketball Stadium. He received the Cope Scholarship Award, totalling $1000. He put this towards his trip to Hawaii, where he was selected by the NZ Taniwha Basketball Team to attend a tournament for the World Youth Basketball, where their team won the tournament. At the end of Year 13, Chris went to AUT after receiving a scholarship and trained to be a Physiotherapist, a career he is now practising on the North Shore.
Chris represented the World University 3x3 Competition in China. He played in the U23 National Championship at North Harbour Basketball and the 3x3 National Tertiary Champion - AUT University.
Played for the Auckland SuperCity Rangers NZNBL Team.
Captained the NZ 3x3 Team Asia Pacific Super Quest Competition in Manila, Philippines and was the winner of a 3-point shootout ($1000 USD Prize).
Chris has been drafted by the Bulls Basketball team in the NZ NBL Tournament beginning on June 24, 2020.
KingsWay would like to congratulate Chris on his exceptional journey to reach this point in his career. We pray success for his season ahead playing for the Bulls!
