We officially opened the Vaughn Darby Garden as part of KingsWay’s 2022 Foundation Day celebrations. We scheduled this event for last year, but like most events, the dreaded Covid had a role to play. The garden is populated with 1920 native trees, awarded to the school through the Matariki Tu Rākau grant, and planted by our wonderful community in the winter of 2021.
Vaughn served on the KingsWay Board, KingsWay Trust and New Zealand Proprietors Trust as Chairperson for many years. If it were not for the faith, vision and courage of people like Vaughn, KingsWay would probably have a student roll of 150 students and not include a Senior School option.
Thank you to everyone who played a part in establishing this forest. We look forward to the day when the saplings will stand firm.
