Mike Molloy —

Your child's safety continues to be our focus.

This week I am focussing on TRAVELLING TO SCHOOL SAFELY. Most of us are doing the right thing by following the rules. I have been notified of a number of situations that cause me concern. These are:

  • children not wearing seatbelts
  • children exiting cars on the right-hand side of the road
  • children not wearing high visibility vests when walking, biking and scootering to school.

If pupils walk, scooter or bike to and from school they need to be competent at crossing roads and cyclists need to have an excellent road sense. High visibility safety vests are part of the uniform and are to be worn at all times. We would suggest that younger cyclists are accompanied by an adult. Cycles and scooters are to be put in the stands and preferably locked. Cycle safety helmets are required by law.

Bikes and Scooters are allowed to be used at school. Children must wear suitable footwear and helmets. Children are not allowed to share bikes, scooters or helmets.

Requirements for child restraints are attached.

Please make sure you keep your child/ren safe by following the rules. As a school, we are dutifully required to report and ongoing dangerous incidents.
