Kūkūwai Trip to the Botanical Gardens

Hayley Tanser —

Kūkūwai are curious about their environment and how plants and living things grow.

This term, kūkūwai children are learning about plants and what living things need to grow. We are exploring different seeds and plants and the best environments to help our plants grow. Children investigate their questions and make observations, like scientists!

We love getting out into nature and wanted to see what other living things we might find outside of KSS and visited the Botanical Gardens.

We went on scavenger hunts, climbed trees, and learned how worms grow and change. While making worm homes, we learned that worms need dark, moist places to live and they have five hearts!

At the end of our fantastic day, many children were fast asleep on the bus ride back to school!

We can’t wait to watch our worms grow and find out more!
