From the Tumuaki's Table - Term 2, Week 4

Mike Molloy —

Winter is here and the Whare Pukapuka is a great place to hang out in the warm!

A dark start in the morning makes it much harder to get out of bed and off to school and work. The cold starts slowing us down and less sunlight can make us feel less happy than usual. It is a good time to stop and think about all of the great things in life to raise the spirits. Our children are in a caring, warm and fun learning environment for the best part of the day and we live in a safe and happy community.

As the drakness decends upon us it is a good time to review how you children travel to and from school safely. If you child walks, bikes or scooters they need to be wearing a High-Vis vest so they are visible.

These days it seems we all lead busy lives and communication can be easily missed. Please make sure you check you emails regularly, join our facebook page, and use the SkoolLoop APP to keep up with the latest news! At times we also use the notice board for those that come onto site.

The seniors have been connecting with a friendship school from China. We are planning to develop Asian Partnerships and Cultural Readiness. We aim to learn more about chinese culture and the mandarin language that we are trying to promote in our school. We are focussed on a digital strategy, so our children will be able to make direct contact with an International English speaking school. This will provide shared expertise where our children could learn a range of experiences via Zoom or other online medium.

As you know our Pink Shirt Day and DISCO are both on Friday 11 June. This means we only have one crazy fun day to celebrate being a positive and bully free school. The message here is that we are caring towards each other.

I look forward to having a boogie soon!
