Anna Ashby —

Celebrating books and reading - what a way to spend a week! We are excited to have a book character day tomorrow with a parade. Fingers crossed for good weather so we can all be together in the Paranga (Courtyard). If it is fine we hope whānau will come along to celebrate with us.

Much of the past two weeks has been spent reflecting on and being thankful for people’s service to others. At our school, 13 courageous candidates put their name’s forward to represent the parent community on our School Board. Jared Blyth, Maggie Li, Zelda Yates, Tim Kennedy and Haley Smith were successfully voted into this role.

We farewell from the previous Board: Rebecca Jacka, Warren Read, and Hamish Ritchie and thank them most sincerely for their contribution to the governance of our school. Their commitment to the Knights Stream School Vision and Values has helped steer the waka in the right direction. Warren has been on our Board since Knights Stream School was but a twinkle in the Ministry of Education’s eye. We do not underestimate the impact you have had on our success Warren - ka nui te mihi ki a koe!

How will your family spend Queen Elizabeth II Memorial day on Monday? We look forward to hearing about that on Tuesday when the school week begins.

Our community has a unique opportunity to be involved in consultation about safe, active transport to school. Please sign up to be involved with this initiative. There is more information in the Special edition newsletter sent out on 21st Sept.

The clocks go forward on Sunday for Daylight Saving- a sure sign things are getting brighter and warmer. Keep your fingers crossed for a fine day tomorrow for the Book Character Parade - we hope to see you here!
