From the Tumuaki's Table - Term 1, Week 6

Mike Molloy —

What a hectic two weeks it has been at KSS! Another amazing school camp, the junior school TRYathlon, Friends of School meeting, Ōtūmatua naming presentations in year 5-8, hockey lessons, completing our school charter documentation for the year and leadership courses!

We are now at 190 students with the most recent cohort of courageous five year old learners starting school. What a super bunch of learners and lovely families that join the KSS whānau. The energy and enthusiasm in Kūkūwai is infectious (no pun intended). I enjoyed spending the afternoon with Hawai and learning how they robot their sounds and saw some impressive handwriting.

This week the senior learners in Ōtūmatua presented ideas for the name of the two learning spaces... it is not my news to share yet! They did an amazing job connecting their ideas to our maunga (mountain) and the age and stage of the learners in the space.

This weekend marks the anniversary of those that were tragically impacted by the Mosque attacks on 15 March 2019. Our thoughts are with our muslim friends and their communities. Once again our strength and resilience rises above, empowering us to unite as one.

I am looking forward to many of the parents that are joining us for the tramp. Let's hope the weather plays the part. Please refer to the separate email of all of the details.

Kia kaha whānau,

Matua Mike
