From The Tumuaki's Table - Term 3, Week 9

Mike Molloy —

Te Wiki o te Reo Māori - Māori Language Week has been a great chance to celebrate our countries bi-cultural heritage.

Kia ora KSS Whānau,

School is back in action and life inside the school gates is relatively 'normal'. Outside the gates, we continue to mask up and minimise our movements where we can. We have taken the same approach as we returned to learning like last time - wellbeing first! We thank all parents for being great teachers whilst you managed work and life in your bubble! You did the best that you could and we will do what we can to maximise the learning for the remainder of the year.

It is fantastic to see that many more parents are taking up the opportunity to seek support through our Mana Aka drop-in sessions with Chrissy. She is our liaison kaimahi (worker) who is here to support whānau every second Friday between 1.30pm and 3pm.

Next term we welcome back Whaea Catherine who will be setting up the last new entrant class of the year. We will finish on 327 children. My crystal ball says that we will start close to this mark in 2022. Very soon we will be looking to employ more amazing Kaimahi (teachers and teacher aides) to join our team in 2022.

Recently the Ministry of Education approved the funding for our Stage 2 Project. We are starting the planning and hope that this will start sometime in 2022. It will be ready for use in 2023 - the sooner the better!

Have a safe and happy holiday at the end of next week. Let's hope the weather is nice and we are able to get out and about more freely with the updated Level 2 guidelines.

Matua Mike
