Sue Beattie —

Did you know… ...that 29,000 patients are treated with blood or blood products in NZ each year? And less than 4% of us currently roll up our sleeves and donate. With each donation, YOU can save up to 3 lives! Please read the info attached to see if you are eligible to give blood

Eligibility Criteria

Please read the attached Blood Donor ELIGIBILITY Criteria to check if you are eligible to give blood. Or, use this link to do a quick eligibility quiz Am I Eligible?  Please book your appointment on Donate Blood at Air Force Museum.

If you have recently been overseas, please follow use this link for the Donating After Travelling map to see if there is a stand-down period for the country you just visited Donating After Travelling Info (or email me with the dates and countries you went to and I will check).

New Donors Welcome! If you have never given blood before, we would love to see you. Here’s a run-through of the donation process… firstly you register with you photo ID or donor card and you fill out some paperwork. Then you have an interview with a nurse where he/she will ask you a few questions about your health. Then you hop onto the bed and give blood (this part only takes about 5-10 minutes). Then you sit down and relax with your workmates and have some biscuits and a drink. Altogether the process takes about an hour (not including transport time).

Do you have a heart of gold?

Due to increasing demand from our hospitals for more blood products made from plasma, more plasma donors are needed.

Can you make the commitment to becoming a plasma donor? Do you have a heart of gold? 1500 Plasma donations are needed every week.

Find out more about the process of donating plasma and the rules around becoming a plasma donor on our website, call me (Jules) phone 343 9086 or call the Chch apheresis team phone 343 9081.

N.B. You can only donate plasma at the donor centre at 15 Lester Lane (we don’t take the apheresis machines out on the mobile blood drives).

If you have any questions at all, please feel free to contact me.

Thank you for your support of our vital service.
