Knights Stream School Uniform

Sarah Ritchie —

All you need to know about our school uniform

At Knights Stream School, through the compulsory wearing of school uniform, we instil a strong feeling of identity and pride in the community.

Why have a uniform?

  • provide a sense of identity

  • maintain a high standard of personal presentation

  • provide a sense of belonging

  • foster pride

  • reduce peer pressure on differences

  • makes it easier - less decisions for parents!

Our uniform is available from Mainland Uniforms: http://www.mainlanduniforms.co.nz/

School hats are compulsory in terms 1 and 4. During this time children should also come to school with sunscreen applied and bring some to re-apply throughout the day. We can also now order modified bucket hats for students who wear their hair in a bun due to cultural/religous reasons (please see photo below for example of this hat).

Children are welcome to wear sunglasses.

In the winter, it is a good idea for the children to have light shoes or slippers so that they can leave gumboots or wet shoes outside the classrooms. Any outdoor jacket can be worn to and from school and during break times.

ALL shorts, skorts, track pants and undergarments must be PLAIN BLACK. Children can wear black tights and black long sleeve thermals.

Please see the photos below of students wearing the correct uniform.

We would ask that each item of schoolwear is CLEARLY NAMED. This makes it much easier to return lost items to their owner!

Second-hand uniform is sold via the Friends of School Uniform Facebook Page
