Mike Molloy —

Whānau are fully embracing the life at KSS!

As a new school in a new and developing area we are so pleased with how our community are embracing the school. The Cross Country was well attended by parents, family members and our friends from local ECE's. The school planting day had over 50 adult helpers from parents, grandparents, local councillors, residents association, and community groups! I was so proud of our community for the way everyone got involved. The bike track and surrounding gardens look fantastic.

We are now busy planning our Matariki celebration on Friday 14 June (week 7). This will be another opportunity for whānau to come and spend some time or the day with the children completing some exciting activities - save the date in your diary. We plan on starting the day with breakfast at school at 7am! More information about this will be sent out soon!

The school roll continues to grow, particularly in the junior school. We have another 25 new entrants to start in 2019 (these are only the ones we know of!). Whaea Leigh will soon be starting a whānau class and we will be advertising for another permanent teacher to join the junior team.

Board elections close Friday 24 May. It looks likely that we will have an election. If this occurs you will receive voting papers with Bio's of all the candidates. This is a great opportunity for our community to take on the governance of the school for the next three years to ensure we are meeting the needs of the community. We hope you are able to join us for the official school opening on Monday 17 June at 1.30pm. We are looking forward to the last event that concludes all the events the school had planned in 2018. Our Establishment Board and newly parents elected board will be there to celebrate the handover process.

Keep up the great work as a community - we are loving your involvement in your school!

Ngā mihi

Mike
