From the Tumaki's Table - Term 1, Week 4

Mike Molloy —

There are many opportunities at school for students and parents to participate at KSS

As the new year is now well underway the children are making the most out of what school has to offer. Road patrollers are out helping children get to and from school safely, the student council are starting to organise events, the seniors are beginning their leadership programme, kapahaka is underway, music lessons are all go, and the Friends of School hosted a fantastic picnic night.

So what opportunities are available for parents? You could join or help out with:

- the Friends of School

- running Road patrol

- the Cultural Connections Parent Group

- helping out in the Library

- helping put reading journals away for teachers.

The more you put into the KSS experience the more you as a parent get back! We thank all the parents that took up the opportunity to meet with their Kaiako (teacher) last week at the Goal Setting Interviews. This is a great way to form a strong connection and partnership with your child's whānau teacher/s.

This year we have added Skool Loop as a key communication tool. We are trying to strengthen communications to ensure we reach all whānau. Often we send information out via a number of sources to ensure you get what you need in a timely manner. We realise the phone in your pocket is the fastest and easiest way to do this! Please ensure you have joined Skool Loop and add each space where you have a child.

In week 6 the whole school is heading to Halswell Quarry to walk up to our Mauanga (mountain/hill). We would love all our parents/whānau and able-bodied siblings to join us for the morning. Please read the separate article for more details.

I am looking forward to the FoS Colour Run in week 10. This is another opportunity for parents and Whānau to get involved with your tamariki.

See you all soon!
