Whare Pukapuka News

kelly hubbard —

Our 5 C values have been in full swing in the whare pukapuka this term!

It has been amazing to see so many tamariki in the whare pukapuka this term! Lunch times are busy with curious friends reading and sharing books, connections being made with big and little buddies and lots of creative creations being made with the Lego and Mobilo. I look forward to this continuing in term 2!

I was overwhelmed by the large number of tamariki who were courageous and caring and offered to be student librarians this year. This term Sarah, Mahdia, Weston, Cooper, Amelia, Kyleigh, Liam, Caden, Rowoon and Rosa have done a fantastic job of issuing and return books, shelving and tidying the whare pukapuka and making connections with other tamariki through their love of books and reading at lunchtimes. Thank you for all your mahi. This week I will be training the new librarians for term 2.

As the holidays approach and the cooler weather sets in your children will be selecting books this week to share with you over the holidays. I encourage you to find the time, and a snuggly spot, to connect with your children over a great book. The benefits of reading to your children are endless. If you would like more information regarding these benefits please feel feel to email me or pop into the whare pukapuka and I would love to chat. I would also love to see your snuggly reading spots. Please send me photos of where you and your library books get to over the holidays. Get creative! kelly.hubbard@knightsstream.school.nz
