From the Acting Tumuaki's Table - Week 7, Term 3

Anna Ashby —

We are proud of all the learning happening at KSS. Children of all ages are engaged in a wide range of activities across all curriculum areas in school and beyond. On my rounds this morning I saw and heard all 3 official languages of New Zealand being used!

The kaimahi too have been engaging in professional learning with our action-packed staff-only day last Friday. It was a wonderful opportunity for us to learn new material together and reflect on the direction of the teaching and learning at KSS and how this can best meet the needs of our tamariki and community. There was also a fiercely contested netball game that we are all sure we won!

We are hopeful that as the days get longer and lighter that more families will explore the possibilities of walking and wheeling to school options. Car congestion in the school and surrounding areas particularly at hometime is causing us some concern. We respectfully request that parents stick to the protocols regarding the Kiss and Go and P3 areas (i.e. that you don't leave your car when parked there). Parking your car a bit further away from school and walking in to collect your child will help make our school a safer place - a great way to get your step-count up too!

The new build is progressing at the expected rate and the concrete for the foundations should be poured soon. There will be a notice to let you know if this will impact roading around school.

The senior school has begun training for their Athletics Day which will be held at the end of the first week of next term (21st Oct) - that's a sure sign that Spring has truly sprung!

A group of eco-warriors began the planting of the new native tree area this week. Whānau have been donating generously and also helping our tamariki from Paretai to get this exciting project in the ground! If you would still like to donate here is a link to the article about doing so.
