'Ōwaka' - the new build planning is well underway!

Mike Molloy —

The plans for our new 11 teaching spaces is well underway. The new block is called 'Ōwaka' - the māori name used for a waka portage fits in with our school's rich cultural narrative that reflects the local area.

The design of the spaces is based on our current design of Ōpouria and Ōtūmata with some modifications and improvements. Larger maker spaces (waihanga) and breakouts (kāpeka), a 3m verandah that incorporates the COLA (covered outdoor learning area) and better resource storage is included in the design. The new build will look and feel the same as the existing buildings and will tie in with the landscaping. An additional hard court and new adventure playground will be incorporated into the plans.

Here is a flyover of the project and attached are some images of the proposed plan so far!
