NZEI update

Holly Webster —

School principals stood strong for a fair settlement for teachers and now it's time for school communities to show support for our principals.

Teachers have voted to accept the latest government offer. This provides teachers with a significant pay increase and pay parity through a unified pay scale across the state schooling sector. Disappointed primary principals, however, voted to reject a settlement that was largely unchanged from a previously rejected offer.

The Government did not offer primary principals parity with their secondary principal colleagues and have not adequately addressed their complex workload issues.

As a school community, we need to demonstrate to the Government that there is widespread support for primary tumuaki/principals to have parity with their secondary colleagues. It's simply a matter of fairness.

We would love your support as we take part in a national day of support on Friday 9th August. Children are encouraged to wear something green, in addition to their school uniform. For example, green socks or a green headband.

He waka eke noa, we are all in this together!
