Rubbish Free Lunches

Mike Molloy —

During term 3 and 4 we will be encouraging rubbish free lunches.

Every week we seem to be accumulating more rubbish around the school grounds. Part of the original vision for the school was to be environmentally sustainable. We do not have huge amounts of waste as a school but have noticed the majority of waste is from lunch boxes. We are proud of our new school environment and want to keep it clean and green.

We have some eco-warrior students that are keen to tackle this issue heading in to term three. They have come up with the idea of rubbish free lunches. The idea is to start moving towards a lunch that is rubbish free at school.

Why a Waste-Free Lunch?

  • A waste-free lunch is reducing, reusing & recycling. Be part of the solution.
  • Schools save money spent on waste hauling.
  • Families save money on food bought in bulk.
  • Conserve resources; coal, oil, natural gas & trees.
  • Save landfill space. Save energy. Prevent pollution.

Next term we'll share some ideas around how you can create a rubbish free lunch.
