From the Tumuaki's Table - Term 3, Week 2

Mike Molloy —

A sense of normality at last!

It was fantastic to welcome so many new families and their extended whānau on the first day of term 3. Our traditional Mihi Whakatau is a special welcome to all children, their families and the new staff that have joined our team. We welcomed three new teachers - Whaea Rose, Whaea Emma, and Whaea Sophia. We also welcomed two new teacher aides - Whaea Claire and Whaea Leanne. We are now a school of 219 amazing tamariki.

This term we have a number of opportunities for parents to be informed of what is happening at school and to help shape where we are heading. These are all opportunities for you as parents to learn more about the curriculum and to help us shape the KSS curriculum for our community.

These opportunities are:

  • BoT SCOT analysis (parents feedback and feedforward)
  • Sexuality Education Session - Thursday 30 July
  • Mathematics Evening - 13 August
  • Cultural Connections Hui - 10 September

Like I have mentioned to many of you, the more you put into your time at KSS the more you will get out!

Goal setting interviews are happening next week. This is the perfect opportunity to have a 1:1 with your kaiako (teacher) to discuss how your child/ren have been progressing this year. As you know the COVID home learning time will likely have an impact on achievement levels.

The Friends of the School are working hard organising an action-packed Quiz Night for the community.

We look forward to seeing everyone dressed in red and black to support our Crusaders visit on Monday afternoon.
