From the Tumuaki's Table - Term 1, Week 9

Mike Molloy —

The days are getting darker but there is some light at the end of the COVID pandemic after the government's announcement last week. Now we can get to some of our favourite sporting events, worship in groups, and even have our favourite bands return to our shores. I now feel confident that I will get to the Killers concert in Auckland later this year.

I wish to inform you of Matua Craig's resignation from his position as Associate Principal and teacher at Knights Stream School. His last day of employment will be Friday 8th July 2022 (the final day of Term 2).

Craig has played a pivotal role as a senior leader in helping establish Knights Stream School. He has contributed hugely to the core values, beliefs, and the very fibre of what Knights Stream is about. He has very much been a ‘courageous learner who has positively influenced the world’ here at Knights Stream School. Craig is a very well-respected member of the staff and is well-liked by the parents and children.

The change gave an opportunity for an internal review of the leadership structure heading into Term 3. We congratulate the promotion of Anna Ashby who will become Deputy Principal and Leigh Hurford who will become Associate Principal. We currently have a Year 4-8 Team Leader position advertised.

The stage 2 build plans are taking shape. The landscape plan is being finalised, and the joinery mock-up and internal elevations are almost complete. All going well, we may see the fences go up at the end of Term 2! This 11 teaching space will be called 'Owaka' - meaning a waka haulage area. It will have the same look and feel as the rest of the school with a few bespoke items and improved design.

As this is the last newsletter of the term I wish you all a safe and happy term break.
