From the Tumuaki's Table - Term 4 - Week 6

Mike Molloy —

Last week two classes were finalists in the Grow Waitaha DigiAwards held at the St Margaret's College Auditorium. The DigiAwards encourage and celebrate digital creativity in all Year 0–8 ākonga throughout Waitaha (Canterbury). The event enables ākonga (students) to design, develop, and showcase their digital outcomes.

Whaea Leigh's Whānau were finalists in the Y0-2 category with their digital alphabet phonics book and Whaea Catherine's seniors in the Year 7-8 category with their Vegetable App. I am proud to say both won their respective category and the seniors won the Supreme Award for 2020! The School was given prizes - lego, VR Goggles and a very cool robot that can pour a drink!

I was lucky enough to head to the Zone Athletics last week too. We were super proud of the way our senior children competed with courage and some have made it through to the Canterbury Championships!

Congratulations to the FoS who ran a very professional and fun Quiz Night for the community. The feedback from the community has been outstanding - particularly as this was their first big event held at school. They raised over $8,500 will help continue to ensure we have the best resources and opportunities for KSS children. Well done team.

We creep closer towards the end of the school year. Kaiako (teachers) are busy finalising assessments, writing report comments and sorting classes for 2021. We have planned visits for all children joining the KSS Whānau in 2021 and we look forward to our continued growth of such a young school.

Next Friday the classes are open from 1:15 pm - 2 pm for parents to come and view spaces and children's work. If you are available even pop down with your lunch too!

Enjoy the warmer weather and I am sure the Christmas lists are starting to emerge from the children... just over four weeks left and we will be celebrating the year at our End of Year Celebration Assembly on Thursday 16 December at 6pm.
