From the Tumuaki's Table - Term 3, Week 10

Mike Molloy —

Three terms down and only one to go in the first year of KSS!

The year is certainly flying by as we close out yet another term. It has been such an enjoyable term sharing our cultures and celebrating diversity.  Thanks to all those families that were able to come in and share their culture with our tamariki. We appreciate the large number of parents that came along to the Cultural Connections Hui (meeting).

We are hosting a 'Supporting Your Child Through Anxiety' workshop on Wednesday 23 October @ 6.30pm. More information about this can be found here.  We will also be running two ICT information sessions in term 4. These dates will be out early next term. This will be an opportunity for parents to hear about our digital curriculum, why it is important and why we have chosen iPads as the tool to best support our children's learning.

Term four's major focus is Sustainability and our Māori value is Tiakitanga - guarding, looking after, preserving, fostering, protecting and or sheltering something .  Our tamariki will be inquiring into this topic through their interests, passions, by identifying global and local issues and will be thinking about what Sustainability might look like on our own school grounds. This will also link well with our own school values of Caring and Connecting.

As a Sunsmart school hats are compulsory for term 4. Please ensure your child has a named black bucket hat to bring to school next term. Please also remember to apply sunscreen before school. Children are encouraged to have sunscreen in their bags to reapply later in the day.

Planning for 2020 is well underway. We are now starting to add events to the school calendar. This can be viewed from our website. Most terms dates are set for the year if you are like me and tend to plan holidays well in advance!

Have a restful and enjoyable break as a family and we look forward to seeing you all in the final term of the year.
