From The Tumuaki's Table - Term 4, Week 8

Mike Molloy —

Kia ora e te whānau,

This is the last newsletter of the year and what a challenge 2022 has been. For a time I was getting daily updates from the Ministry of Education about COVID mandates and protocols that needed to be in place. The rules kept changing constantly as we tried to ensure we make the school a safe, happy and 'normal' place to be.

I want to take the opportunity to thank you all for your support of the school during such uncertain times. You had to wear a mask, drop and go at the door and not be present for all those special moments... and you did it to keep us all safe. Some of you continue to face challenges on many fronts - not being connected with whānau, financial implications, job losses and family sickness overseas. At the end of it all, you have been courageous and shown great strength for your children.

The summer holidays will be a chance for you to take a pause from some of the madness, to slow down, to reconnect with those who are important to you, those that have been in lockdown or hard to reach. Take the time to recharge your own batteries while the sun shines over the break.

The end of year celebration for each Hapu (team) across the school will be made available to you via a private link by Monday 20 December.

Over the break, the school grounds will be closed if we remain in Orange or Red. If we return to Green the grounds will be open to everyone!

For those returning, we will see you on Monday 31 January 2022. I hope you all have a safe and happy festive season.

Matua Mike
