Digital Technology Specialist Mandy Dempsey has been supporting Knights Stream School with our digital journey. She came in to visit Whaea Tania’s whānau class to run a workshop to introduce a Lego robotics kit called WeDo.

What an exciting experience this was for the children. Using Lego which they are already familiar with, the children used the Wedo app to follow the instructions and build their own robots. 

Next the tamariki used the Lego Wedo app to program their robots. This is designed to support the tamariki to learn about introductory computer programming and the creation of an algorithm. They were to control the movement of their robot.

This was an amazing learning experience for the tamariki. They had so much fun and we could hear the tamariki squealing with excitement as the robots followed their commands. What a wonderful resource we have at Knights Stream School, encouraging our children to become creative and courageous thinkers.
