From the Tumuaki's Table - Term 2, Week 1

Mike Molloy —

Welcome back to Term 2! We hope everyone has had some quality time as a family and had the opportunity in a more relaxed orange setting to get out and about for a few adventures. The Molloy family managed to have a week over on the West Coast before having to isolate due to a household COVID case. Already this term we have 4 staff impacted by COVID and I think teacher and child absenteeism may happen for some time yet!

At this time of year, a number of our families are celebrating Eid al-Fitr. Eid is centred around celebrating the end of a month of fasting and spending time with family, friends and people within the community. Giving thanks to God is core, which is why on the morning of Eid, Muslims offer a special congregational Eid prayer. Enjoy your celebrations!

Once again the teachers have been busily planning creative learning programmes to meet the needs of their learners. This term we have a focus on sustainability and music! St Johns will be with us for a week taking some basic first aid and safety sessions with all the tamariki. The Year 4-8 Cross Country will be a time for children to show their courage and do their best. The Juniors will enjoy a Fun Run opportunity and we welcome parents back onsite for this event in week 2!

We look forward to having parents and whānau back onsite again and to life becoming a little closer to normal.

We also welcome a number of new families to KSS. Unfortunately, we can still not hold our Mihi Whakatau in the current setting.

I look forward to chatting from inside the gate!
