Term 3 Newsletter - Te Tupu Harakeke

Sue Beattie —

Te Tupu Harakeke has focused on Cultural Connections this term as our overarching theme.

We have enjoyed studying one culture per week as represented in our very multicultural classroom. We started the term with New Zealand culture, followed by Malaysian, Cook Island, English, Korean, Samoan, Scottish, Māori, Indian, and Chinese. Each week we have learnt some language, listened to national anthems, tried some dances and to finish the week we have cooked cultural kai and eaten it together.

Thank you to the whānau who have generously shared their knowledge, provided their traditional foods, and come in to cook them.

Hae-Rin’s father, Kevin did a fantastic job of whipping up his favourite Korean salad that his mother makes for him.
