From the Acting Tumuaki's Table - Week 5, Term 3

Anna Ashby —

As I worked in the Tari yesterday afternoon I heard the tinkling of music coming from outside. Whaea Jacqui was introducing tamariki to the joy of creating music in the great outdoors. I'm looking forward to a classroom orchestra performance sometime in the future!

It is a pleasure to welcome Whaea Jacqui back to KSS to work in Tōtara. Jacqui brings a wealth of enthusiasm and experience. She is enjoying reconnecting with learners she worked with in Paretai last year and forging new relationships with the Year 5 learners.

Yesterday afternoon eight courageous Year 7/8 students went to the Canterbury Arena to represent KSS in the Canterbury Cantamath Competition with Matua Tom and Matua Cam. The competition was fierce and we are very proud to announce that our Year 7 team came third equal out of 82 teams - tau kē koutou!

We have tamariki representing KSS at the Netball and Rugby tournament in Lincoln today. Whaea Leigh and Matua Nathan along with some parent helpers have been preparing the tamariki for the day. We are wishing them well and looking forward to hearing about their experiences.

We have had a notice from CES that those parents who haven't yet voted in the School Board election were sent an email last night. If you haven't voted and are not able to see this please check your spam/junk folder. If you still are unable to find it please let Sue know.

Leigh Hurford has been spending time updating the school website and you will all be appreciating the increasing functionality of the HERO app. I suggest you take a look - particularly at the page with photos and children's work about the building site.

Next Friday 2nd September is Teacher Only Day - there will be no school for children. Kaimahi will be engaging in a variety of professional development activities and programmes.
