Bright Future Awaits Talented Sportswoman and Exceptional Artist Latecia Haora

Latecia Haora has just completed year 13 at Waitakere College in Auckland. She is a very talented sportswoman and exceptional artist, who throughout her secondary years, showed great diligence and determination to succeed.

Latecia Haora has just completed year 13 at Waitakere College. She is a very talented sportswoman and exceptional artist who throughout her secondary years at Waitakere College showed great diligence and determination to succeed. Her achievements were recognised with several prestigious awards.


She won the Mana Maori Award for Outstanding Achievement in Arts and Culture for the second year in a row and the Waitakere College Foundation Academic Scholarship. She was also awarded the Norma Taylor Excellence Award receiving the Norma Taylor Memorial Trophy, certificate and $500. This award is made every year to a Deaf Student who has consistently achieved recognition within their school, over their five years at secondary level.

Latecia is an excellent role model for her hearing peers and the other Deaf students at her school. In 2021 she will further her art studies at Elam School of Art where she will undertake a Bachelor of Visual Arts.
