Annelies Marie Frank was born on 12th June in the year of 1929 at Frankfurt, Germany. She was one of the World’s most famous diarists and she was Jewish. She was also a victim of the World War II Holocaust. She was a youngest daughter to Otto Frank and Edith Frank.

Anne Frank was educated at Montessori school where she passionately learnt how to read and write. This love of writing kept helped her survive her years hidden in a Secret Annex in Netherlands.

In World War II the Jews were badly mistreated by the Nazis. Adolf Hitler, who came to power in Germany, believed the Jews were like their second-class(“inferior”). They set up segregations, restrictive and discriminatory laws to eliminate all the Jews because of the failing economy and the hatred for the Jews.

More than six million Jews were killed in gas chambers and they also died from starvation, diseases and massacres.

Hitler ordered cruel and harmful experiments to be used on children. These experiments were aimed at finding cures to various illnesses including Malaria, and Tuberculosis and victims were also forced to drink sea water to test for their tolerance.

Anne Frank’s family were Jewish, so they fled to the Netherlands to try and survive the persecution of the Nazis in early July 1942.The family went into hiding on 16th July 1942 to 1944 (2 years) in a Secret Annex.

Anne Frank received a diary from her father, on her 13th birthday. Anne Frank started writing her diary in Dutch on 20th June 1942. The diary she had written was called “The Diary of a Young girl”. She wrote about her feelings and her observation of her life in World War II. Her diary includes many famous quotes; “How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world.”

Anne Frank was transported to Bergen-Belsen concentration camp on 28th October 1944 before she died of typhus in February 1945.

Otto Frank published the book of Anne Frank in 1947.
