Competencies are Key
The five New Zealand Curriculum Key Competencies feature in our local curriculum at Oteha Valley Provision.
Key competencies are the capabilities that students have and need to develop, live, and learn today and in the future. The New Zealand Curriculum identifies five competencies: Thinking, Relating To Others, Using Language, Symbols and Texts, Managing Self, Participating, and Contributing.
2021 has been a year that has presented us with
challenging contexts for learning. In a mix of online and face-to-face learning,
our Oteha Valley Provision students have shown resilience and flexibility. We
are ready, willing, and able to learn. Our photos show Alphonso, Blaze, Kaya, and
Susan developing their key competencies as they learn, communicate and collaborate
together.
