PIZZA Night for Ormiston Primary and Junior Parents’ Meet and Greet on 20th February

We had a fantastic evening with the parents who came to listen about the Play-Based programme being delivered at Ormiston Primary School. Many parents and their children came to enjoy a pizza evening. Janet Wardle-Peck delivered a presentation on the expectations of Play-Based Learning and Tahseen Sultana who is the Senior Teacher of Ormiston Junior College gave an outline of the current learning programme we have at Middle School level.

Janet explains the programme offered at Ormiston primary

Tahseen Sultana, Lead for Ormiston Junior College explains the programme and this is great for those who are in Year 5 or 6 to learn what we have to offer as the next step in our learning journey.

Play-Based Learning at Ormiston Primary

Our young children are enjoying Playbased Learning programme. As you will see on Day One we had everyone playing with a Pirate Ship in a tray of water. Students were having a fantastic time experimenting with toys and playing imaginary Pirate games. Play-based learning is purposeful for cognitive development, theory of mind and cause and effect. This links well to learning in the classroom.

Kelston Intermediate Whanau Day in West Auckland

We had Whanau Day on 6th March at Kelston Intermediate. James Anderson-Pole and our Deaf akonga are teaching the Pepeha in NZSL. Hearing akonga are seated watching the students and learning the NZSL for our Pepeha. The purpose of Whanau Day is for community and school to come together.

We have had a great start to the 2020 year at Ormiston Primary and Kelston Intermediate.
