Deaflympics KIT Day South Canterbury
Students enjoyed the different sports for Deaflympics in Term 3.
South Canterbury students from Ashburton, Geraldine, Glenavy and Oamaru took part in our Deaflympics KIT Day. There were many sports for the students to play including badminton which was a new sport to many. The students also got to meet a Deaf Olympian, Gillian Ramsay, who has represented NZ in both the hearing and deaf world.
Students made the flag for their chosen country and completed the opening ceremony, the ‘king’ officially opened the games and the fun began. Students were in teams, supported and encouraged each other to take part and also had friendly competitions between themselves to win. At the end of the day, Gillian presented each team with a medal for their performance and expertise in their successful event.
All the students had a lot of fun and can’t wait for the next one.
