Hillmorton Deaf Bilingual Provision
It has been a busy month for van Asch at Hillmorton this month. Anahera, Isaiah and Noelani attended the Maori KIT day. Anahera met her second cousin (pictured below). The students learnt about Maori traditions and art, they also shared kai (food) in the traditional style of a boil up and fried bread.
Thomas went on a tourism trip with Angela supporting him. They met huskies and learnt about different jobs in the airport.
Hillmorton mainstream classes have been working hard this winter. Tanisha and Linh Da created miniature worlds in their art class. Pictured below is Tanisha’s work, it includes some of the VA staff running away from a tornado.
We hosted our mainstream teachers for a morning tea to thank them for their support for our staff and students.
The highlight for many of us earlier in the year was our Matariki celebration. Vicki’s art activity went really well. Georgie and her friends did a fire show to celebrate the Maori new year and that was an awesome finale to the evening.
