Deb Warren - Outreach Team Lead for Otago —

The Otago Outreach Team and students have enjoyed being able to reconnect in person for teaching and learning in 2022.

The playgroup had a slightly unsettled start to the year due to COVID-19. However, we kept up our connection through a private Facebook group and by Term 3, we were reunited and even moved to a new venue. The children enjoy our weekly sessions which consist of stories, songs and games. They also are familiar with our regular visiting professionals, including Deb Kelly, our Advisor on Deaf Children, and Michelle Sinclair, the First Signs facilitator.

Otago's Resource Teachers of the Deaf (RTDs) worked hard to keep our Outreach service going through Covid restrictions. We continued to visit schools in Dunedin and Otago, moving to Zoom sessions to keep learning alive when needed.

The Day School restarted in Term 2 after Covid restrictions prevented students from meeting in Term 1. Students and teachers enjoyed the chance to reconnect face to face and engage in many exciting learning activities. The Day school has started a private Facebook group to connect families and teachers. We have shared our students' success as they continue to show creativity, perseverance, and collaboration.
