Working Together and Making Friends
There's nothing better than seeing students making friends and enjoying working together!
As teachers, we greatly value the importance of students connecting and collaborating to form life-long friendships to enhance their learning and sense of self-worth. Here are a couple of highlights from our region in 2022.
Leo Taka and Rehan Batra are two Year 6 students in the same class at Owairoa Primary School, Howick. During Māori Language Week, they worked together to learn new Te Reo phrases and created a dice, "Moku Ake Ra - All About Me".
Vieanna Takitaki (Year 4) and Brezaylia Kumu-Toka (Year 3) are students from different schools who are penpals. They had been writing letters to each other for a while and were excited to meet each other for the first time at the Due Drop In Events Centre, Manukau, for the production of Whale Rider, making it an extra special school trip!
