Fun at Auckland Preschool!

Krista Clifford - Early Childhood Pre-School Lead —

A preschool is a special place where we welcome and join new whānau on their child's learning journey. We only have their tamariki for such a short but precious time and it is a place where they learn to grow, belong, choose and excel.

This year we have welcomed 9 tamariki and their whānau and are also looking forward to meeting Riley, who is joining us before the year ends.

Haere mai to Marialee (again!), Jamie, Maximus, Joseph, Bosstyn, Huatahi, Lasheli, Latifa and Ramadan!

This year our Preschool said 'ka kite' (see you later) to Maria, Hasan and Marialee, who moved onto either Ormiston or Kelston Primary Deaf Provision. We also farewelled Nova, Steiny, and Taane as they moved on to their local schools. It is always a proud moment to see them wearing our Preschool Korowai cloak.

We started the year in red, moved to orange in April and finally, in September, there were no more traffic lights! We had many challenges, but we remained open throughout the year as we experienced staff and student sickness. Through it all, we all helped each other. Thank you to our wonderful families and staff for their ongoing support; we couldn't have done it without you!

Highlights of the Year

  • Seeing everyone again is top of our list!
  • First trip in a year – a trip to Pumphouse Theatre – Badjelly the Witch in Term 2!
  • Whale Rider in Term 3
  • making new friends, doing cooking activities and playdough
  • The biggest highlight of all was meeting Emma Memma and Elvin Melvin!!
