Being a School Leader

Jannah Enoka-Whaanga - Student —

Hi, my name is Jannah I go to Ebbett Park School. I am 11 years old and I am in year 6. I am a house captain and a school leader. I have a communicator that helps me understand things.

As a school leader, we have to help the teachers and set up assembly. As a house caption, we help the principal make sure the kids are doing the right thing at assembly.

I am a road patroller my job is to keep the kids safe while they are crossing the road. My favourite things to do are karate, gymnastics, going to the gym and Cook Island dancing.

At school, I like to play with my friends and classmates. I play Ki-O-Rahi and I was chosen for the school team.

Every Friday we have Deaf Hub with kids from other schools. We do lots of fun things like signing, learning about new things, stories and talking about being deaf. When Covid started we had our Deaf Hub on zoom.

I have one real sister and three step-siblings. My mum is deaf too.

Next year, I will be going to Hastings Intermediate. I cannot wait to meet new teachers and new friends.
