Southland Lockdown Learning 2021
How did you find learning during lockdown? Check out what the southland students got up to during lockdown and the online learning fun we had.
Level 4!! oh no, time to start learning from home and time for whanau to take on the teacher hat AGAIN! Many were worried when the news broke but the Southland Resource Teachers didn’t panic because we knew this wouldn’t stop our students from engaging and connecting from home.
During this time learning took on a new dimension with teachers finding their creative sides. There were many online learning activities to be had from scavenger hunts, Art lessons, Science lessons, Reading games and who could forget Kahoot challenges.
With the uncertainty of not knowing when we were going back to school, Zoom was a great way for everyone to stay connected. We all worked hard to try to keep some normality for our students and plan sessions together to make learning as fun as possible. It was awesome to see students picking up new hobbies and having the opportunity to share these with us. Keeping in touch was crucial for the Southland team as we value whanaungatanga and fostering relationships with our students and their whanau.
By Working collaboratively, the Southland team were able to connect students from different schools, and as you can see from the photos engage in some fun!
Nga mihi maioha to all our students and whanau who helped us get through this challenging time. “He waka eke noa” we are all in this together.
