Over 200 invited guests joined us as we celebrated the opening of our new Ruaumoko Marae at KDEC on 15th August. A very wet morning did not dampen the celebration for students, staff and our Maori Whanau, and visitors.

The original Rūaumoko Marae was established on the Kelston Deaf Education Centre site in 1992. Rūaumoko is special and holds a special place in the hearts of DEC students and staff.
