Keep in Touch (KIT) Days are for Connection!

Waikato East and West Teams —

Making new friends and having new experiences are always a highlight of KIT Days.

KIT days have been the highlight of 2023 for both ākonga and Resource Teachers of the Deaf (RTDs). The connections between students and exciting new learning experiences are always great to be part of.

In Term 2, our intermediate and high school students visited Te Whare Taonga o Waikato.

During Term 3, we organised the 'Spring is Here' KIT Day for our younger learners. A former RTD and her friendly neighbours graciously hosted us, allowing us to visit their farms, interact with the animals, and even feed and pet many of them. This was their first farm experience for many students, so the aroma was a talking point! We came away with feathers from different birds, skeleton leaves found along the path on our bush walk, an egg from the chickens, and many new friends.

Many of us have kept up these new friendships by writing letters to each other, which are delivered via our RTDs. We can't wait to catch up again in 2024!
